(Yaaseen) 36 : 18
قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

They said: “Indeed we are considering you as an evil omen, and if you do not retrieve from this, surely we will stone upon you, and we will make affect you a painful punishment”.

People who are about to be destroyed do not accept Messengers and believers who come to them as well-wishers. Instead, they see them as a bad omen and plot evil against them, including threats of exile or murder, to deter them from their mission. See explanation 7:130-131; 8:30; 27:48-51.
